Our Environment - Choices Matter

For the most part, participation in biodegradable packaging solutions is still voluntary.

Customer appreciation of their favorite brand manufacturers stepping up to embrace environmentally responsible business operations has been a well received value-added bonus.

The use of 100% sustainable materials for disposable packaging is that new frontier.

Biosphere™ endeavors to provide innovative, active support for producers in their drive to do business in a new, earth friendly and sustainable way.

100% biodegraded in 40 days or less.
(10 DAYS IN A COMMERCIAL COMPOST ENVIRONMENT)

Renew-a-Pak's composition closely resembles many starch based foods,
and naturally decomposes the same way.

  • Renew-a-pak's PPM100 material biodegrades in less than 40 days (98% in 28 days), and has passed strict standards in Canadian, United States and European Union independent laboratory tests for biodegradability and compostability.
  • PM100 material has been exclusively engineered to be made primarily of starches such as tapioca and potatoes and a smaller percentage of grass fibers making them not only biodegradable, but ultra Earth friendly using mostly yearly harvested raw materials.
  • No plastic coatings or laminations.
  • No harsh chemicals are used in the manufacture of Renew-a-pak products.
  • PM100 products produce steam as the only byproduct during manufacture.
  • Biosphere™ Industries has created the proprietary technology for the mix and mold systems that minimizes the production steps necessary to manufacture Renew-a-pak PPM100 products.  Packaging products made with PPM100™ do not use excessive energy to manufacture.
  • Renew-a-Pak PPM100™ packaging may be disposed of in the paper recycling stream if composting  is not an available option.
  • PM100 material has been European DIN/CERTCO tested.  Biosphere™ is currently applying for its unique EU biodegradability mark.  Biodegradable Product Institute(BPI) approved and Certified to meet ASTM D6868 composting standards.

"Of all the environmental buzzwords, "biodegradable" has perhaps been the most misused and is perhaps the most difficult to understand.  Because in the past there have been no guidelines or regulations, many products have called themselves biodegradable without any real justification.  Unfortunately, the word biodegradable has frequently been applied to products that generally aren't (such as detergents or plastics) and almost never used for products that really are . . . ."  - Source: WorldWise, Inc.
